Riley County is among the healthiest in Kansas, while Shawnee County has a grimmer outlook, according to a new study released March 19.
The Kansas Health Insitute shared the 2019 County Health Rankings for the state. The report ranks 102 counties from healthiest to least healthy. Riley County landed the number five spot, while Shawnee County dropped from 61 in 2018 to 79 this year.
The rankings come from factors including self-reported health status, education, job stability, safe neighborhoods and access to healthcare. Combined, the study said these can impact quality and length of life.
