23-year-old Brad Keller dazzled as the Royals held off the White Sox for a 5-3 win opening day win. Keller pitched seven scoreless innings allowing just two hits. He struck out five batters and allowed just one walk.
Jorge Saler and Adalberto Mondesi both had two hit days for the Royals with Saler driving in a pair of runs. Mondesi and Alex Gordon also drove in a run each for Kansas City.
The Royals took a five run lead into the 9th, but the White Sox scored three runs and had the bases loaded when Brad Boxberger came in to get the save for Kansas City.
