The Royals and 2B White Merrifield are nearing a contract extension, according to multiple sources.

The deal is supposedly four years and worth over 16 million dollars.

The 30-year-old led the league in stolen bases and hits while batting .304. He made only six errors at second base and also played ever spot in the outfield and first.

He finished in the top 20 in MVP voting.

The deal buys out his last pre-arbitration year as well as three years of arbitration and includes a fifth-year team option for ten-and-a-half-million dollars.
