Shawnee Count Sports H.O.F. inducts 2018 class

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The 2018 Shawnee County Sports Hall of Fame inducted its annual class on Thursday night at the downtown Ramada. 

Bob Chipman – Former Washburn basketball coach with 808 career wins.

Tanner Gardner – Former Shawnee Heights wrestler who posted back-to-back state championships with the Thunderbirds.

Gerald Christensen – Former Topeka Thunderbolts track & field coach.

The banquet also handed out awards to some of the top high school athletes in Shawnee County over the past year.

Fall Female Athlete of the Year: Amanda Desch – Hayden 

Fall Male Athlete of the Year: Matt Wolfe – Washburn Rural

Winter Female Athlete of the Year: Lydia Ostenson – Shawnee Heights

Winter Male Athlete of the Year: Zeke Metz – Seaman

Spring Female Athlete of the Year: Lauren Mills – Seaman

Spring Male Athlete of the Year: Michael Hoffer – Shawnee Heights

Most Inspirational Female: Amanda Young – Hayden

Most Inspirational Male: Jett Canfield – Hayden

Female Athlete of the Year: Lydia Ostenson – Shawnee Heights

Male Athlete of the Year: Michael Hoffer – Shawnee Heights
