Shawnee County Baseball announces 2019 Hall of Fame class

News

The Shawnee County Baseball Hall of Fame announced its 2019 class of inductees. They include “Topeka Jack” Johnson, Jim Parrish, Jeff Jacobsen, Larry and Mark Elliott, Bob Speake, and the Topeka 7-Up Reds.

“It’s really cool to go in with my dad as well,” said inductee Mark Elliott. “My dad passed away in 2008. I grew up with Washburn baseball and Washburn football and all the stuff that he did, great fast pitch softball player and stuff, so that’s really cool,” says Elliott.

Inductee Bob Speake added, “The team that’s being inducted, the 7 UP Reds, my son played for, so it’s kind of self-satisfying that he and I would both go in the same year.”

The 2019 Shawnee County Baseball Hall of Fame banquet and ceremony will be held on July 16th at the Ramada Downtown Topeka Hotel and Convention Center. Doors will open at 5:30 PM and the banquet begins at 6:00 PM.
