Shawnee County emergency officials warn of bitterly cold weather

Shawnee County emergency preparedness officials took steps to remind area residents to limit their time outdoors in light of a wind chill watch issued by the National Weather Service.

In a statement Monday, the emergency operations center advised residents to:

  • Limit your time outdoors as frostbite can occur on exposed skin within as little as 30 minutes. 
  • Have a good plan of action when it comes to Wind Chill by utilizing the safety tips provided by the National Weather Service.
