On Monday night KU and K-State faced off on the basketball court for the Sunflower Showdown.
People packed local bars to drink, eat and of course, watch the game. No matter who they were rooting for, everyone was having a good time.
Especially Gary Hannes and his sister, Vyn Skinner, who make a tradition out of watching the games together. Each one is cheering on a different team with Gary rooting for the Wildcats and Vyn for the Jayhawks.
“This is our chance to get together and watch it, enjoy the rivalry and root for our team and appreciate the other team too. It’s a good rivalry and usually a good game too,” Hannes said.
“We banter back and forth, but it’s good and it’s good between us,” Skinner said.
For that sibling duo, it’s not about who wins, but rather about spending time together.
