TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Fire Department (TFD) responded to an early morning fire in central Topeka that caused thousands in damages.
Rosie Nichols with the City of Topeka said fire crews were called just after 6 a.m. on Nov. 20 to the 1400 block of SW Tyler Street. Firefighters at the scene found smoke and flames at a house and began efforts to contain the fire to the structure.
Nichols said a TFD Investigation Unit looked into what started the fire. The investigators found the cause to be accidental with the fire causing $20,000 in damage to the home. No on was injured during this incident and the home was unoccupied when the fire started.
