Topeka High’s Ky Thomas is coming off a stellar year for the Trojans football team and his performance is grabbing same major attention. Thomas ran for over 1,600 yards and 21 touchdowns in 10 games this season earning the KSNT High School Football Player of the Year award.
“What motivates me most I would say is probably my family, them being with me every step of the way and it just makes me wanna do more,” Thomas told KSNT Sports. “I’ve got a little brother and little sister who look up to me, so just showing out for them and just showing them a path is really my motivation.”
And Thomas is certainly doing that with multiple offers from Power 5 schools.
“It’s really picked up this season, during the season they can finally write hand written letters and text me, so during the season it was really wild, but I just try to maintain, and I had football season trying to win. Now they’re coming up to the school, it’s really exciting.”
As for a decision, Thomas plans to take his time.
“It’s my junior year, so I’ve got a little bit of time before other schools could pop in and you never know what would happen in recruiting,” the Topeka High junior said.
If you’ve ever seen Thomas play you know he runs hard, so hard you might find him puking on the sideline.
“Every game! I remember every game they would always ask me what I ate before the game and I’d say the same thing every time…. Peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”
Thomas plans to stick with what’s working.
“It will happen after the first series of the game, after that I’ll probably throw up and I’ll probably be good after that. I don’t know how it works. I’ve had good luck with it so far, so as long as I keep throwing up and it keeps going good I guess,” says Thomas.
Thomas just started basketball season with Topeka High.
