Three people are in jail for theft and running from police in Topeka.

Kansas Highway Patrol discovered a man inside of a car they believed to be stolen. After running the tags, they found that the car was in fact stolen.

When officers approached the man, he began to drive off, heading to the Oakland neighborhood. The man threw a gun out of the car before driving off. The gun was also reported stolen.

The man led officers on a car chase before crashing the vehicle near Branner St. He proceeded to run from officers on foot. He ran into a house near the 200 block of NE Lake, barricading himself inside a shed.

The man eventually came out of the shed, and was arrested. He also had warrants.

Kansas Highway Patrol then went to the house the man lived in near NE Grattan St. At this house, two other men were inside.

When officers arrived, the two men fled the home. Kansas Highway Patrol said two other vehicles were at the house, and were reported stolen. There was also another stolen gun inside one of the cars.

All three men were arrested and taken into custody.

Topeka Police were on the scene assisting the Kansas Highway Patrol with the arrests.
