A Shawnee County couple became much richer Thursday morning.

The couple came forward with a Powerball ticket from Oct. 10, with winning numbers 08-23-27-42-60 Powerball 09. They purchased the ticket at Dillons 67 on 2010 SE 29th Street in Topeka. The ticket matched the first five winning numbers for $1 million, but not the Powerball number, for an additional prize.

While the ticket was from Oct. 10, the winners, who are remaining anonymous, told the Kansas Lottery that they waited to claim the prize until after the new year for tax purposes.

There is still an unclaimed $1 million Powerball prize from the Dec. 29 drawing. The Holiday Millionaire Raffle’s $1 million grand prize will be announced by KSNT’s evening anchor Brooke Lennington on-air Thursday at noon as well.
