A man was sentenced for his involvement in a murder near Perry Lake.

The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office told KSNT News a judge sentenced Jonathan Davis Blevins, 23, Thursday. Jurors found Blevins guilty of first-degree murder in March, in the death of Taylor Dean Sawyer, 22.

Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office found Sawyer’s body near Perry Lake in March of 2018.

Blevins will serve at least 50 years.

Blevins’ girlfriend, Ashlyn Hemmerling, is also facing first-degree murder charges. Her mother, Sarah Hemmerling, was initially charged with obstruction. However, that charge was later dropped.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig previously said authorities thought Ashlyn helped orchestrate the homicide. He said circumstances leading to the homicide may have involved a domestic dispute, as well as drug use.

The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office said Blevins will not be eligible for parole for 50 years.
