The Topeka Police Department welcomed a new K-9 to its force this week, but he doesn’t have a name.

The dog is a 15-month-old Belgian Malinois from Ukraine. He will be trained in narcotics detection, handler protection and patrol services.

People can submit name suggestions to the department’s Facebook page until March 1. The dog’s handler will choose the winning name from the suggested comments.

The name will be announced at a meet and greet at the Law Enforcement Center on March 8.

The winner will be able to meet the dog and his handler, if he or she chooses to.

You can submit your name suggestion here.
