Topeka Police investigating 3 armed robberies in less than an hour

Topeka Police are investigating 3 armed robberies that took place in less than an hour Thursday.

According to police, the first one happened at 6:46 p.m. near SW 6th Ave. and SW Clay St. in Central Topeka. Police say three men armed with guns walked up to someone and stole the victim’s car. 

The car was described as a light blue, 2011 Hyundai Elantra with Kansas tags. The suspects took off in an unknown direction.

Then at 7:04 p.m., police responded to another armed robbery call at Wendy’s near SW Huntoon St. and SW Gage Blvd. The suspect was described as a light male wearing a black hoodie, blue bandana, faded jeans with bleach spots on the legs and black tennis shoes with gray soles. They also had a gun and got away with an unknown amount of money.

Finally, at 7:12 p.m., an armed robbery call came in from the Kwik Shop at SW 17th St. and SW Washburn Ave. The description of the suspects was the same as the previous robbery. They got away with an unknown amount of money.

Police are not sure if the three incidents are connected. They have not made any arrests at this time and are still searching for the suspects.
