Topeka West’s Kadence Jeffries shines at State Swim and Dive finals

News

It’s spring championship season for the high schoolers and today we crowned a few of the top spots in the pool. We’re talking high school swim and dive state finals!

At the pool at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka, Haylee Weiss from Emporia High finished 2nd overall in the 1-meter diving portion of the 5A-1A event and was named 2nd team all-state.

Seaman freshman Gabby Grace finished fifth in the 100-yard backstroke, seventh in the 100-yard freestyle.

The star of the show today was Topeka West freshman Kadence Jeffries.

First the 200-yard freestyle finals, the freshman goes out and beats a senior by three seconds! She gets emotional in the pool after the win. Later in the day, she’s in the  500-yard freestyle finals and wins her second state title of the day.  On top of that, the T-West team finished 7th in the 400-yard freestyle relay, 3 freshmen in their lineup for the competition. The future of swim is bright at Topeka West.
