Tow truck companies scramble to keep up with high number of crashes

The slick roads made it a busy day for tow trucks all over northeast Kansas.

Slide offs, fender benders and rollovers had tow truck companies backed up for several hours Wednesday.

While tow truck drivers tried to keep up with the demand, the road conditions made it difficult.

“We were at a slide off this morning on I-470 and the officer that was there with the people who slid off in the ditch almost got hit,” said owner of Darrell’s Service Kevin Colhouer. “So, it’s a dangerous situation and people need to slow down and move over when they see emergency vehicles.”

Several cars slid as they drove by a rollover accident near 25th and Adams. Some even came close to hitting the emergency vehicles on the scene, prompting officers to remind drivers to slow down.

No one was injured in the accident.
