Wabaunsee charged with first degree murder in beating death of woman

Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay announced today that he has filed charges against  34-year-old Luke Anthony Wabaunsee in connection with the death of a 42-year-old woman at a north side apartment building last Saturday, October 27.

Kagay charged Wabaunsee with premeditated first degree murder in the death of Michelle Stadler at 300 NW Grant St.

Police officers discovered Stadler’s body at the apartment, and later located Wabaunsee and another man for questioning., The other man was released. Kagay said Stadler died of blunt force trauma.

Wabaunsee’s bond is currently set at $1,000,000 and his case is now set for a Criminal Assignment Docket at 2:00 p.m. November 15, to schedule future appearances.

Kagay said the investigation by the Topeka Police Department continues.
