The Wamego Chief of Police is looking for 20 to 30 volunteers to help prepare the town in the event of flooding.

At this time, flooding is not imminent but the city wants to be prepared in the event that it does occur.

Police Chief, Michael Baker, is asking volunteers to be “on call” in case of flooding.

Volunteers could be called upon at any time of the day and would be tasked with setting out sandbags and doing other preparation work as needed.

Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call the Wamego Police Department Dispatch at 785-456-9553 and leave their contact information.

Please call the Wamego Area Chamber of Commerce with any questions at 785-456-7849.
