The Kansas State University Wildcats are making a comeback against the University of Kansas Jayhawks in this week’s AP polls.
AP Top 25 rankings moved K-State up three spots from last week, while KU fell four spots.
Wildcats sit at No. 15, while the Jayhawks are ranked No. 17.
If the Wildcats maintain their ranking, it will be the first time in more than three decades that the team has been ranked above the Jayhawks in the final AP Top 25 poll, according to Sports Refrence.
K-State was ranked above KU in the 1987-1988 season final coach’s AP Top 25 poll.
In that season, the Wildcats were ranked 20 while KU was went unranked.
The final AP Top 25 poll will be released after the national championship game.
Editor’s note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that the last time that K-State was ranked ahead of KU in the final AP Top 25 poll was in 1977.
