Safety Marcus Hayes announced his decision to join the K-State football team on Monday night. Hayes is transferring from New Mexico.
“It started off when I first asked for my release, North Dakota State and coach Klieman was the first team to call me and offer me, and me and him just had a good relationship and then when it came down to make my commitment when he made that change from North Dakota State to Kansas State, I just trust him, and I feel like he knows what I can bring to his team and when he called and told me he wanted to take me to Kansas State I couldn’t pass up the opportunity and the blessing that he’s providing me with,” Hayes told KSNT Sports.
As a redshirt freshman with the New Mexico football team this past season, Hayes hauled in two interceptions, including one for a touchdown, and made 51 tackles. Hayes also led the entire nation in punt return average with 21.2 yards per return.
