Boy survives fall on meat skewer

KANSAS CITY, Kan (KSNT) - A 10 year old boy fell face-first on a meat skewer this past weekend after he and his friends were running away from a swarm of bees. The University of Kansas Hospital surgeons had a formidable task in extracting the metal rod from Xavier Miller's skull. Miller fell approximately four feet onto the skewer, which was sticking out of the ground. Fortunately, the skewer missed Xavier's brain, brain stem and other vital nerves.

The surgery to remove the skewer Sunday was a complete success. Xavier had a small bandage on his cheek near his nose. Otherwise, he is in good condition and can resume his  normal activities.
