We need some sun because rain is coming back

Many creeks and rivers are still running fast and high, but we get one more dry day to allow that flow to work away from Northeast Kansas.

The cooler air arrived Tuesday night into Wednesday and we keep getting reinforcing shots of chilly air to make it even colder. A Frost Advisory was issued yesterday morning for our northwest counties and some spots to the far north/northwest may get close to a light freeze. The same thing could may not happen tomorrow because of more clouds.

You need a decent jacket with this weather pattern for the foreseeable future for cold starts and chilly afternoons. Sunshine will dominate today so we should have a gorgeous blue sky with beautiful fall color. The breeze also won’t be nearly as gusty as it’s been recently, but it will be up some through mid to late morning.

Greater Topeka Thursday…
Highs: 52-56
Dew Points: 34-39
Wind: NW 10-20

Overnight, the clouds increase from west to east. By early Friday morning, moisture is prevalent and showers become likely. There is even a slight chance for a brief period of rain/snow mix as Friday begins. If that doesn’t happen, there is another chance to see a few flakes with rain early Monday. Precipitation chances may diminish for Friday night and Saturday but clouds will linger with occasional sprinkles. Sunday may end up mostly cloudy with developing rain in the afternoon.
